Large wooden Christ carved in the round, lacquered and polychromed, of a great realism, suggesting that it must be a work from the sculpture workshops of Goa, Portuguese colony on the west coast of India.
The lacquer applied is extremely thin, missing in places, leaving the wood visible.
Great tranquility in the expression, making one almost forget the sufferings that the Son of Man may have known.
Goa, end of the 18th c.
Good condition despite the lack of polychromy and the end of the perizonium. Hand-foot diagonal: 63 cm
