Portable altar in black lacquered wood, with two doors opening onto a representation of the Benzaïten Goddess, eight-armed guardian of Buddhist values. Represented in feminine features, she is known as one of the Seven Divinities of Good Fortune. Japan, Edo period (1603-1868) (on her head, behind the Shinto gate, is Ugajin, the serpent with the head of an old man, spirit of rice, water and food).
