Hermione von Preuschen (1854-1918), German painter and author, worked for many years in Italy. She studied at the Karlsruhe Academy of Fine Arts under Keller and Gude and her favorite subjects were still lifes of fruit and flowers.
She exhibited in Rome in 1883, in Turin in 1884 and in Chicago in 1893.
Her famous painting “Mors imperator” of 1887 was rejected in Berlin because it referred too much to the very mature age of Kaiser Wilhelm I.
Giltwood frames in the process of restoration.
