The episode is taken from Genesis (18,1-11): “And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, She is there in the tent. One of them said, “I will come back to you at that time, and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son. “And Sarah, though very old, gave Abraham a son, Isaac.
Active mainly in Rome and Naples, Giacinto BRANDI, trained in Rome at the study of Alessandro Algardi, joined the school of Giovanni SemantiI, then worked under the direction of Giovanni Lanfranco from 1647 onwards. He became friends with Mattia Preti, with whom he often collaborated. He was admitted to the Accademia di San Luca in 1651.
