Description

Rare pair of angels in poplar wood sculpted in round hump, polychrome and giltwood . Of an elegant shape, they each hold a candle holder, one in their left hand and the other in their right. Beautiful oval faces with a youthful expression with almond-shaped eyes and a mouth with a fleshy lower lip; hair crowned with a tiara at the tip, the strands raised around the temples form a crown. They are dressed in a long high waisted gown, with draperies of great fluidity that fall to the ground, leaving the pointed ends of the shoes visible. Dresses with a round neckline punctuated by diamond patterns at floral corners and enriched with edge-worked borders, wax holders with twisted lower ends, large spread wings attached to the back by wrought iron keys, octogonal terraces. Tuscany, Siena around 1370-1400. Old collection ,Guinigi family and Petrucci family,Siena.
