Description

Large babbit metal statue representing a woman dressed in Egyptian style, with a bare breast, showing a part of a deck of cards, the rest of which is on the pedestal table at her feet. One has the impression of a fortune teller or fortune-teller disguised as an Egyptian, somewhere in the East. The babbit  metal is an alloy of tin or lead, and antimony, which was used from the second half of the 19th century. It can be covered with a bronze tint, or with a colour, in this case a beige mastic. England? 19th century
