Christ of great workmanship in boxwood without his cross, represented as “Christus patiens”, resigned, as it appears from the 10th century onwards. He does not yet have the wound caused by the spear of the centurion Longin. The right foot is placed on the left (the right is a symbol of goodness and justice and the three nails may be an allusion to the Trinity). Probably French work from the 17th century.
The Christ is set in a magnificent silver frame worked in repoussé on a wooden core, decorated with scrolls, volutes, flowers and birds, executed in the Venetian workshops in the 16th century. Some wear and tear.
Frame: 60×54; Christ: 21 head-feet and 28 diagonal hand-feet.
