Description

Pair of paintings, oil on oak panels, representing still life with birds, dog, flowers, fruits, vases and carpets on entablatures. On the first painting, we see a parrot tasting a fruit, a dog on the left, on the edge of a window, watching him. On the second painting, we see the same dog chasing two birds. The composition is practically the same except for the wine glass. French school of the 19th century. Oak on panel Very good condition, old period gilt frame. The panel on the back has a label “A La Palette d’Or”, 46 rue de l’arbre sec, near Saint Honoré Street. Rey, painters supplier” The directories of this trade indicate this house in 1831. The author of this note speaks about BRULLON, successor of DELARUE son, old house REY of 1826 to 1846 (cf: P.Labrouche ‘Parisian suppliers of canvases and chassis from the 1800s to 1880).
