Description

Oil on canvas signed ” von TAMM,1716″. German painter born in Hamburg in 1658, he studied with Dietrich von Sosten, then by Joachim Pfeiffer. He went to live in Rome around 1685 where he treated all subjects: historical, portrait, still life. Around 1695, he moved to Vienna where he worked for Emperor Leopold I, then for the Prince of Liechtenstein. It is only from 1702 that he specialized in hunting still life, under the influence of Jan Fyt. This painting had a pendant in the sale of 1918 (today not located): “two dogs in front of a wild boar”. 110×150 with its frame. Museums: Prado, Copenhagen, Städel Museum, Belvedere, Bavaria
